Hello, World! Welcome one and all to my blog. My name is Rachel, but I go by Delevingne on-line. I’m a software engineer, computer scientist, IT consultant, runner, an adult convert to Judaism, a firearms enthusiast, a country music lover, a video gamer, and an occasional reader. I’ve been using computers – and playing games on them – since the days of Half-Life and Red Alert. Those days don’t seem all that long ago.

What is this blog about?
I was wondering that myself. I’ve asked myself that question on a semi-regular basis since I bought my first web domain, way back in 2010. I figured out a few years ago that this space should be about my life and my passions, so that’s what it is.
You’ll find a variety of content here, including everything from the basics of FORTRAN programmes to obscure calendar mathematics. If I mentioned it in the first paragraph, or if it is somewhat related to what fascinates me, I will probably talk about it.
I will also blog in French, and possibly other languages should I desire to do so. I do not, however, vouch for the accuracy of my translations.
Software engineer? Computer scientist? IT consultant?
Yes, yes, and yes. I am a software engineer by trade, although I pivoted to this line of work after working as an IT consultant. I have a Bachelors in Computer Science, and as of the update time of this post, I am preparing to undergo graduate studies in the same field.
I mostly work with Java, but I frequently use a variety of languages, ranging from PHP and Perl to FORTRAN and C#. I use the right tool for the task, based on my knowledge and the demands of the project, and I enjoy the challenge of learning new paradigms.
You can find a more accurate list of my programming experience on my résumé, located here. If you’re hiring or want to outsource a project, you can get in touch here. I am always looking to work with unique organisations on innovative products of all shapes and sizes.
My fellow professionals and associated amateurs can discover my personal development environment in this blog article.
Let’s see some specs
I primarily work on a 2014 15″ Retina MacBook Pro. I prefer macOS as a desktop environment; it is most suited to my workflows. I use an AOC 27 1/2″ 4k display when I am at my desk, along with a variety of SteelSeries peripherals, a Logi webcam, and an M-Audio microphone.
I have a modest collection of computers of various vintage and purpose, including DOS machines, PowerPC Macintoshes, my first own-build Windows XP computer, and enterprise servers.
When I am required to use Windows, which usually means I am gaming, I use the following system.
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 1800X;
- Logic board: ASRock X470;
- RAM: Kingston 32GB (2 x 16GB) 2200MHz DDR4;
- GPU: Radeon RX Vega 64 8 GB.

This blog is currently powered by WordPress. It does the job. I can complain, but I shan’t.
None of this would be possible without my loving family, and Alex, Beau, Brian, Clara, Dieter, John, and Joshua. I owe you all more than you can possibly imagine. Thank you all for the wonderful impact that you have had on my life. I pray for you all every day.
